Mental Health Consultation

Students at Brooklyn Law School may arrange an initial consultation with one of our mental health consultants, Dr. David Inwood, Dr. Susan Roane, or Dr. Jeff Feola.

Dr. Inwood is on the faculty of Psychiatry of the State University of New York Health-Science Center at Brooklyn (Downstate Medical Center). He is Board Certified in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Inwood has had substantial experience working with law students, attorneys, families and children. His office is located in the neighborhood at 95 Pierrepont Street (corner of Henry Street), and can be reached at (718) 625-5362.

Dr. Susan Roane is a Clinical Psychologist who received her Master’s Degree and Ph.D. from New York University. She has had her own private adult psychotherapy practice since 1994. She has two offices: 26 Court Street, Suite 2112 (Brooklyn Heights) and 315 West 57th Street, Suite 410 (Manhattan) and can be reached at (212) 332-0080.

Jeffrey A. Feola, MD is the Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Director of Outpatient Services in the Department of Psychiatry at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He is involved in medical student education and provides mental health treatment services to the student community at Downstate. He received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his medical degree from the University of Connecticut. He completed residency training in Psychiatry at Brown University in 1999. His private practice is located at 26 Court Street at Remsen Street. He can be reached at 718-270-1813.

The New York State Bar Association Lawyer Assistance Program (NYSBA LAP) provides education and confidential assistance to lawyers, judges, law school students, and their immediate family members who are affected by the problem of substance abuse, stress or depression. NYSBA LAP is a state-wide program that serves as a counterpart to the New York City Lawyer’s Assistance Program (see below) and will refer students to the City program as needed. Note: Membership in the New York State Bar Association is not required to take advantage of these services.

The New York City Lawyer’s Assistance Program (NYC LAP) is a free, confidential service, available to attorneys, judges, law students and their family members, in New York City, who are struggling with alcohol or drug abuse, depression, anxiety, stress, as well as other addictions and mental health issues. The program also offers an Attorney Mentoring Program and Outreach and Education, programs which refer students struggling with alcohol/drug abuse or depression to an attorney-mentor who has had a similar experience. Note: Membership in the Association is not required to take advantage of these services.
