Brooklyn Law School Science for Judges IX
April 13 & 14, 2007
Program Application
Science for Judges IX is the ninth and final in a series of programs for federal and state judges designed to assist them in handling complex scientific issues. The program is offered by Brooklyn Law School’s Center for Health, Science and Public Policy in conjunction with the Federal Judicial Center, the National Center for State Courts, and the Committee on Science, Technology and Law of the National Academies of Science. Federal and state court judges will be invited to attend. The program will focus on making statistical concepts that arise in litigation comprehensible to both judges and juries. A variety of issues will be explored by working through hypothetical examples designed around civil and criminal cases.
Program participants will be provided with accommodations at the Brooklyn Marriott across from the Law School, as well as reimbursement for transportation costs not exceeding reasonable coach air fare (fare must include Saturday night stay) and ground transportation to and from the airport.
The program begins at Brooklyn Law School at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13 and concludes with lunch on Saturday, April 14. The Law School will host a dinner reception for participants and their guests on Friday evening, as well as breakfast and lunch on Saturday.
