FELLOWSHIPS AND FUNDING
Brooklyn Law School’s public service funding programs are some of the most generous in the nation.
We provide public service grants to every student who wishes to work during the summer at a government agency, public interest or non-profit organization. Other grants are available for work during the academic year. All students are eligible to apply for a grant.
Several fellowship programs are also available for qualified students: the Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Law Fellowship Program, the Brooklyn Law Students Public Interest Fellowship (BLSPI), and the BLS International Human Rights Fellowship.
Brooklyn Law School also has a generous loan forgiveness program to reduce the debt burden for graduates who have taken certain relatively low-paying public interest jobs. Recent enactment of the federal College Cost Reduction and Access Act will allow graduates who enter government service or non-profit organizations to have their student loan balances forgiven after 10 years.

In addition to the generous funding provided by Brooklyn Law School, students may be eligible for outside funding programs, both during and after law school.
While students must compete for outside funding, many students find the credentials or particular opportunities associated with the funding make the application well worthwhile.
Many funding opportunities exist. Those listed below are just a few of the sources used most commonly by Brooklyn Law Students. Please see the Public Service Office for details.
