Professor Lawrence Solan’s op-ed “Pay Associates Less? A Novel Response to a Rapidly Changing Legal Market” was recently featured in the Huffington Post.
The media has been reporting that law schools are in crisis as lawyers cannot find jobs upon graduation to service their debt. Professor Solan advocates for an alternative pay system at large law firms that would have new graduates shoulder some of the cost of their own training—by accepting lower salaries—in turn freeing up resources for law firms to provide more job opportunities for graduates.
