    06.18.12 Professor Adam Kolber Cited in Discussion about Placebo Disclosure to Patients

    Professor Adam Kolber was referred to by American Medical News about whether or not doctors should disclose the use of placebos to their patients. Although the American Medical Association states that placebos can only be used after obtaining a patient's consent, many experts in medical ethics argue that doing so is too broad and could have unforeseen consequences on the reaction to treatment. Among these experts, Professor Kolber explained that deceptive use of placebos should be done sparingly, but is not categorically prohibited.
