Commencement 2013

Yes. Avery Fisher Hall requires that everyone entering the Hall has a ticket. No ticket, no entry, even for graduates.

To request commencement tickets, fill out the online ticket request form. Please be sure to include your full name, phone number, and e-mail address.

You may request up to 5 tickets. This includes one ticket for yourself. Please only request the number of tickets that you need. If you would like to have your name put into a lottery for additional tickets, please indicate that on the ticket request form. Please keep in mind that lottery winners will only receive one extra ticket due to the high demand for tickets.

Avery Fisher Hall has limited space. Many students are in similar situations and the Law School does the best it can to accommodate student’s needs. However, in the interest of fairness, the Law School cannot accommodate additional ticket requests beyond the lottery.

Everyone, including infants and children, must have a ticket to enter Avery Fisher Hall. Even if an infant will be held the whole ceremony, they must have a ticket. This is the policy of Avery Fisher Hall, not Brooklyn Law School.

If you realize you will not need all your tickets at any time before commencement, please contact the Events Office at (718) 780-7908 to arrange for the return of those tickets that will not be used. Keep in mind that your fellow graduates might need those extra tickets.

NO! Since these tickets are distributed without a fee, the practice of selling them would be unethical and unfair to your classmates.

Commencement tickets will be distributed in the first floor conference room at 250 Joralemon Street on the following dates:

Monday, May 6, 2013
11 am – 6 pm

Tuesday, May 7, 2013
11 am – 6 pm

Wednesday, May 8, 2013
11 am – 6 pm

NOTE: BLS photo identification is required!!

No. The Law School receives a finite number of tickets from Avery Fisher Hall. Lost tickets cannot be replaced. With this in mind, please use caution in distributing your tickets to guests. We suggest that you keep your tickets for your guests until they arrive in New York instead of mailing them in advance.

No. Seating is general admission for guests on a first come, first served basis.

Special seating is available for those people who require access by use of a wheelchair, crutches, or walker. Please contact Matilda Garrido at matilda.garrido@brooklaw.edu to request seating for guests with special seating needs. Requests for special seating should be made as soon as possible.

Avery Fisher Hall allows guests into the auditorium 30 minutes prior to the start of commencement. Doors will open at 10:30 am.

Avery Fisher Hall does not permit admission to anyone without a ticket into the auditorium. There are no exceptions. Please remember your tickets!
