Spelling Bee Raises Funds for Robbins Scholarship
On February 21, 2007, the Brooklyn Law School Student Bar Association held the 1st Annual Brooklyn Law School Spelling Bee in memory of Professor Sara Robbins. Professor Robbins led the Law School library for over 20 years until her sudden, tragic death in December 2006.
39 students faced off in the competition, which was judged by Professors Michael Cahill and Christopher Serkin. The winner was Max Seltzer ’08. Ethan Weber ’07 came in second place, and Daniel Meyler ’09, third.
A silent auction and raffle was held in conjunction with the spelling bee, with prizes donated by Director of Student Affairs Camille Chin Kee-Fatt, long-time Brooklyn Law School faculty assistant Bobbi Bullock, the Brooklyn Law School Library Duke University, local businesses, and the Broadway Office of "The Putnam County Spelling Bee.”
The spelling bee was a tremendous success, generating almost $3,000 for the scholarship fund that has been established in Professor Robbins’ name. If you are interested in donating to this scholarship fund, please call the Director of External Affairs, Linda Harvey, at 718-780-0382.
