2007 Race Judicata is a Resounding Success
October 14, 2007 -- On a beautiful Sunday in Prospect Park, 83 runners and walkers – students, faculty, family and friends – took part in Brooklyn Law School’s Annual 2007 Race Judicata. The 5K run/walk, sponsored by the Student Bar Association in memory of Professor Barry Zaretsky, raised over $2,000 for the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice, a public high school.
“On behalf of the Student Bar Association, the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice and the family of the late Prof. Barry Zaretsky, I would like to thank everyone who helped make the 2007 Race Judicata a resounding success,” said Joseph Goljan ’08, SBA president. He gave special thanks to the sponsors: BarBri, Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, La Bagel Delight, Red Bull, the Law Offices of Louis R. Rosenthal, Road & Track, RoadID, Silver Screen Audio, the Office of Residential Life and the Office of Student Affairs, as well as “to Professor Janger for ‘incentivizing’ our runners with this year's ‘Professor Janger Challenge.’"
Race results are on the SBA Web site at www.BrooklynSBA.org.
About Professor Zaretsky
Professor Barry Zaretsky was a treasured member of the BLS community who died suddenly in 1997, but left a lasting legacy. A distinguished bankruptcy and commercial law scholar, he was a teacher and mentor to countless BLS students, as well as an avid jogger.
About the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice
The Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice (SLJ) in Brooklyn is one of several small, college-prep public high schools in New York created by the non-profit Urban Assembly. Most students have expressed an interest in the law, though not all want to be lawyers. Law-related activities supplement their rigorous curriculum, including debates, mock trials, moot court, internships and field trips to courts and law offices. Brooklyn Law School is proud to have established a mentor program with the school. Please visit www.sljhs.org.
