Lawrence Lessig Speaks on the Future of IP Law

On April 7, 2005, The Digital Civil Rights Project at Brooklyn Law School hosted a discussion featuring Stanford Law School Professor Lawrence Lessig. Lessig, widely known as one of the leading scholars on cyberlaw, spoke about the Creative Commons movement, which provides for more flexibility in protecting the intellectual property rights of creative works. He also discussed other issues in IP law including digital rights management and electronic privacy.

The Digital Civil Rights Project is a BLS student group dedicated to intellectual property laws that restore the balance between public and private interests. Current projects relate to Creative commons licensing of scholarly work and maintaining the fair use rights in the face of evolving technology. For more information please contact Knox McIlwain at knox.mcilwain@brooklaw.edu or Jake Snow at jacob.snow@brooklaw.edu.
