Jennifer H. Smith Named Brooklyn Law School Director of Residence Life

Jennifer H. Smith joined Brooklyn Law School in January 2005 as the school’s first Director of Residence Life. She will manage the day-to-day operations of the law school’s nine residences, all in Brooklyn Heights, including the new high-rise residence, Feil Hall, which will open in the summer.

Between 1999 and 2003, Smith worked as a senior administrator in the Stony Brook University Department of Residential Programs. In her last position there—serving as Quad Operations Manager—she was responsible for overseeing a campus apartment complex that housed 1,200 graduate students and their families. She holds two degrees from Stony Brook University: a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work.

With the opening of Feil Hall, about one-third of the law school’s 1,500 students will be provided affordable housing near the law school. Apartment application procedures for Feil Hall will be announced soon, Smith said. Student housing information will be communicated regularly through the BLS website and at information sessions she will conduct. She will also be available to answer questions at her temporary office on the ground floor of the main academic building; the phone number is (718) 780-0383, and email is jennifer.smith@brooklaw.edu. The office will eventually be relocated to Feil Hall.
