Constitution Day Program
Monday, September 18, 2006
1:00-2:00 p.m.
Student Lounge

Brooklyn Law School observed Constitution Day on Monday, September 18, with a program from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the student lounge. We used this national day as an occasion to discuss the current Supreme Court and how it has been interpreting the Constitution in several important areas. Faculty members discussed highlights of the Court’s most recent term and previewed cases on the current docket:

  • Military Commissions, Professor Susan Herman
  • Campaign Finance, Professor Joel Gora
  • Capital Punishment, Professor Ursula Bentele
  • Affirmative Action, Visiting Professor Michelle Adams
  • Judicial Independence, Professor Jason Mazzone
Following the program, there was a screening of A Conversation on the Constitution, featuring Justices Anthony M. Kennedy and Stephen G. Breyer, and retired Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
