Linda Harvey, Director of Communications
Ms. Harvey oversees the Communications and Institutional Advancement Offices. She joined the Law School in 1995 with over ten years of experience as a communications professional in academia and government. She served as Deputy Coordinator of the New York State Law Enforcement Council developing the Council’s public presence and promoting its legislative agenda. She oversaw a staff that analyzed the impact of city, state and federal criminal justice legislation, organized hearings, coordinated press conferences, and issued policy papers and reports. While working for the Council, she was also Director of the New York County District Attorney Office’s Project Management Unit, where she served as an internal consultant on special projects relating to the administration and management of the D.A.’s Office. Her background also includes work as a senior staff analyst with the New York City Department of Law, and as a management analyst in the District Executive’s Office, U.S. District Court, EDNY. Ms. Harvey holds an M.P.A. from the New York University Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and a B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Ivy Miller, Associate Director of Communications
Ms. Miller joined the Law School in 2004 with over 15 years of experience in communications for government, non-profit groups and higher education. She previously served as the director of communications at Pace University and, before that, at the National Council of Jewish Women. Earlier, she was a public information officer at the Queens County District Attorney’s Office and the NYS Office of Court Administration. She has also been a consultant to the Irvington Institute for Immunological Research and the New York State Society for Clinical Social Work. As a freelance writer, she recently wrote a chapter about killer whales for a forthcoming book on citizen-scientists.

Michele Bowman, Associate Director of Communications
Ms. Bowman joined the Law School in August 2007. With a background in both academia and writing, she is also a lawyer who practiced for several years in Texas before attending graduate school for an MFA in creative writing. Most recently, she worked as a writer in Proskauer Rose LLP’s business development department in Manhattan, and as an editor at VerdictSearch, a division of ALM. Previous to that, she served as a part-time assistant and adjunct professor in the English departments at both Montclair State University and William Paterson University in New Jersey, where she taught first-year composition, creative writing and various literature classes. She spent many years as a trade journalist and senior editor writing for a health care and business publisher out of Chapel Hill, NC. During and after graduate school, which she attended at UNC-Greensboro, she worked as an editor for a scholarly journal (English Literature in Translation), a freelance writer, and a writing instructor. While attending the University of Texas School of Law for her J.D., Ms. Bowman served as a manuscript editor for the American Journal of Criminal Law, then after graduation as a editorial intern for Texas Monthly magazine. She holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in Plan II.

Matilda Garrido, Communications Coordinator
Matilda Garrido joined the Law School in 2006. Previously, she was the Production Manager for State of Israel Bonds/Development Corporation for Israel for 11 years, with primary responsibility for print production and website administration. She has worked in the communications field for many years, for such companies as WGBH Boston, and is a lifelong Brooklyn resident.
