Overdue and Replacement Fines

As in most law school libraries, major research and reference materials do not circulate. Books which do circulate are located in the main and international collections on the lower level and may be borrowed by students for one month upon presentation of a valid Brooklyn Law School identification card. Alumni and other patrons do not have borrowing privileges.

The following materials do not circulate:

  • Looseleaf services
  • Periodicals (bound and unbound)
  • Federal, regional and state primary sources (court reports, codes, statutes, etc.)
  • Finding tools (indexes, digests, dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc.)
  • Form books
  • Reserve and reference material
  • Audio and video cassettes

Certain heavily used items, including current course materials and unbound periodicals, are kept on reserve behind the Circulation Desk. These materials may be borrowed for two hours, but must be used in the Library.

Circulating materials, not requested by another borrower, may be renewed for an additional month at the Circulation Desk. Renewals may be made by telephone.

Anyone with borrowing privileges may also request that materials currently out on loan be reserved when the initial borrowing period ends. Such materials will be held as soon as they are returned and the requesting patron will be notified of their availability.
