Brooklyn Law School awards a number of endowed scholarships established largely through the generosity of loyal alumni and friends of the School. Portions of the financial assistance annually awarded to students come from the funds of these endowed scholarships. Students do not apply for endowed scholarships. Instead, the Law School selects the recipients each fall, based upon the eligibility requirements of the scholarships and the qualifications of the enrolled students.

David B. Ampel Memorial Scholarship Fund
A fund has been established in honor of David B. Ampel, Class of 1949, by his late wife, Nancy, and his sons, to provide a partial annual scholarship to a worthy student of the evening division who is employed while attending law school.

ASECA Scholarship
A scholarship created by the Association of Securities and Exchange Commission Alumni (ASECA) to be awarded to one or more deserving students at Brooklyn Law School who are current full-time or part-time employees of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Bernard S. Barron Scholarship
A scholarship established by the bequest of Grace B. Cohen, in memory of Bernard S. Barron, to be awarded annually to a deserving student selected by the Law School “without regard to race, creed or color.”

Barse Family Scholarship
A scholarship established by David M. Barse, Class of 1987, in memory of his father, Lawrence P. Barse, Class of 1958, to assist an upperclass student who has demonstrated academic excellence in the areas of securities or bankruptcy law, and shows exceptional promise in business or law.

Charles J. Bensley Scholarship
A scholarship established by the late Charles J. Bensley, Class of 1931, distinguished lawyer, businessman, and philanthropist, to be awarded to deserving students.

Elihu Berman Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by the family of Elihu Berman, Class of 1935, a distinguished practitioner in the field of real estate law. It is awarded annually to a student who has shown exceptional promise in the area of real estate law and who is in need of financial assistance.

Joseph J. Bernstein and Judge Jonas H. Bernstein Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship awarded by Martin B. Bernstein, Class of 1958, and Edwin A. Bernstein, Class of 1951, in honor of Joseph J. Bernstein, Class of 1919, and Judge Jonas H. Bernstein, Class of 1951, to a student who has demonstrated exceptional ability in the law of creditors’ rights and who is in need of financial assistance.

Samuel Bernstein Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship, established by the family, friends, and colleagues of Samuel Bernstein, Class of 1930, to be awarded to a worthy student who is in need of financial assistance.

Dennis J. Block Scholarship
Dennis J. Block, Class of 1967, a distinguished partner in the law firm of Cadwalader, Wickersham and Taft, established a scholarship fund in grateful appreciation to the Law School for its scholarship assistance during his days as a student. This scholarship is awarded annually to a worthy student who is in need of financial assistance.

Herman Block Scholarship
A scholarship for the benefit of students in need of financial assistance has been established in honor of the late Rose L. Hoffer, Class of 1954, and Philip Hoffer, Class of 1933, under the terms of the will of Herman Block, a devoted friend of Brooklyn Law School.

Melvin Block Scholarship
A scholarship in memory of Mel Block, Class of 1950, a distinguished trial lawyer, awarded to a worthy student.

Howard H. Born Scholarship
A scholarship established by the Estate of Howard H. Born, through the good offices of devoted alumnus Lawrence C. Schoen, Class of 1952, to provide financial assistance to a deserving student from the greater New York area.

Bernard “Bingo” Brandt Scholarship
A scholarship established by the family, friends, and colleagues of Bernard “Bingo” Brandt, Class of 1933, awarded to a worthy student.

Judith Bregman Scholarship
A scholarship established by the Estate of Judith Bregman awarded to a member of a minority group in need of financial assistance.

Neil and Nanci Brody Scholarship Fund
A scholarship fund established by a devoted alumnus, Neil Brody, Class of 1974, and his wife, Nanci, to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students.

Bertram Bronzaft Scholarship
Robin Bronzaft Howald and family and friends established this scholarship in loving tribute to Bertram Bronzaft `61. It is awarded to a deserving student who has demonstrated academic excellence as an Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Law Fellow, a program that Mr. Bronzaft helped create.

Steven Brown Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship in memory of Steven Brown, Class of 1985, whose J.D. degree was awarded posthumously, has been established by his classmates. It is awarded to a deserving student.

William Brown Carswell Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by the late widow of William Brown Carswell to be applied annually toward payment of tuition for an evening division student selected by the faculty on the basis of scholarship and need.

Mindy Hymowitz Cella Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by Aaronson, Rappaport, Feinstein & Deutsch, LLP in memory of their associate, Mindy Hymowitz Cella, Class of 1991, to assist a nurse or former nurse in pursuing a legal education.

Robert T. Cherry Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by Anise Cherry, the wife of Robert T. Cherry, Class of 1950, a distinguished practitioner in the area of workers’ compensation. It is awarded annually to a student who has shown exceptional promise in the area of tort law and who is in need of financial assistance.

Class of 1911 Scholarship
The Class of 1911 has established a scholarship to be awarded in the name of this class to a student of outstanding ability who is in need of financial assistance.

Class of 1933 Scholarship
Based on a matching grant program established by Ira Belfer, Class of 1933, a scholarship is awarded by the class to a student of outstanding ability.

Class of 1954 Scholarship
A scholarship established by Philip Hoffer, Class of 1933, in memory of Rose L. Hoffer, Class of 1954, to assist a third year student of outstanding ability.

Class of 1959 Scholarship
This scholarship, established by a member of the Class of 1959, is awarded to a first year student in need of financial assistance.

Class of 1968 Evening Division Scholarship
This scholarship, established by members of the evening division of the Class of 1968 in memory of the members of the class who have passed away, is given to a worthy student in the evening division.

Class of 1975 Scholarship
This scholarship, established by members of the Class of 1975, is awarded to a deserving student.

Judge Nicholas Coffinas Scholarship
A scholarship given by a dear friend of Brooklyn Law School in appreciation of the educational benefits provided by the School to his children. It is awarded annually to the student deemed worthy by the Dean and the faculty.

Judge Max E. Cooper Scholarship Fund
A scholarship established in memory of the Honorable Max E. Cooper, Justice of the Supreme Court, Kings County, to be awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding performance in moot court proceedings.

Regina Crea Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by alumni and friends, in memory of the beloved Regina Crea, wife of Professor Emeritus Joseph Crea, Class of 1947.

Nathan Dechter Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by the family of Nathan Dechter, Class of 1936, to assist a worthy student who has served the community through work in a Law School clinic.

Herbert and Norma Dicker Scholarship
Herbert Dicker, a distinguished member of the Class of 1955, a member of the Brooklyn Law School Board of Trustees, and an outstanding litigator and partner with the law firm Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP, has established this scholarship to be awarded annually to one or more deserving students.

Louis L. Dickman Scholarship
Louis L. Dickman, a distinguished graduate of the Law School, Class of 1931, has established a scholarship fund in grateful appreciation to Brooklyn Law School. A scholarship is awarded annually to a student of outstanding ability.

Joan L. Ellenbogen Scholarship
A scholarship established in memory of Joan L. Ellenbogen, Esq. by Marcia C. Goldstein, Esq., colleagues, family, and friends, in grateful recognition of her distinguished career and extraordinary contributions to true equality for women both inside and outside the legal profession. The scholarship is awarded to two deserving students who possess Joan’s drive, persuasiveness and commitment to the law. Each recipient will be known as a Joan L. Ellenbogen Fellow.

Charles Evan Scholarship
A scholarship established in memory of Charles Evan, Class of 1943, a distinguished international lawyer, awarded to an outstanding student who exhibits an aptitude for the study of international law and who will be designated the Charles Evan Fellow in International Business Law.

Faculty Scholarship
The faculty awards a scholarship to the member of the first year class whose scholarship demonstrates special interest and proficiency in the law and whose conduct and personality give evidence of leadership and promise in the legal profession.

Herman Fagen Scholarship
A scholarship established in honor of Herman Fagen, Class of 1942, through the assistance of his son, Leslie Gordon Fagen, to support a deserving student in need of financial assistance.

Howard S. Finkelstein Scholarship
A scholarship established by a devoted alumnus of the Law School, Howard S. Finkelstein, Class of 1959, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of his graduation.

Susan G. and Martin A. Fischer Scholarship
This scholarship, established by Susan Fischer, a former Assistant Librarian, and Martin A. Fischer, an alumnus of Brooklyn Law School, Class of 1964, is awarded to a student in need of financial assistance to continue his or her education.

Charlotte B. and Morris Fishman Family Scholarship
These scholarships were established by the estate of Charlotte B. and Morris Fishman, Classes of 1947 and 1953, in grateful appreciation for the education they received at Brooklyn Law School. They are to be awarded annually to a deserving female student and a deserving male student.

Richard Frank Scholarship
A fund established by a distinguished alumnus, Richard Frank, Class of 1956, to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students.

Irving S. and Harriette H. Freedman Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by the late Irving S. Freedman, a distinguished and loyal graduate of the class of 1931, and his wife Harriette H. Freedman, to be awarded annually to a deserving student.

Albert Fried Scholarship
A scholarship, established by J. Michael Fried, Class of 1975, in memory of his father, Albert Fried, to be awarded to a financially worthy upperclass student who has demonstrated academic excellence.

Jeffry H. Gallet Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by the family and friends of Jeffry H. Gallet, a distinguished United States Bankruptcy Court Judge in the Southern District of New York and a member of the Class of 1967, to be awarded to a worthy student who has shown exceptional promise in the area of bankruptcy law or family law.

Simon Gallet Scholarship
A scholarship established by the Cooperative Housing Movement in honor of the late Simon Gallet’s meritorious service to the movement.

Judge I. Leo Glasser Scholarship
A scholarship established by the Margot Sundheimer Foundation, made possible by Richard Schneyer, Class of 1971, to be awarded to a deserving student. Margot Sundheimer and her parents escaped Nazi persecution and fled to the United States, where they were able to live their lives in freedom, under the rule of law. This scholarship honors Judge I. Leo Glasser, Class of 1948, for his distinguished career as a federal district court judge, former dean of Brooklyn Law School, and a revered professor and scholar. Judge Glasser’s career epitomizes a lifelong dedication to public service and the rule of law.

Arthur Gluckman Memorial
A scholarship was established by the classmates, friends and family of Arthur Gluckman whose untimely death tragically cut short his promising legal career.

Judge Sidney Gold Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship offered by Lottie Stillerman Gold in memory of her husband, Judge Sidney Gold, Class of 1932, to an evening division student who has completed his or her second year and who, in the opinion of the Dean, evinces promise of distinction in the practice of law.

Seymour B. Goldfeld Scholarship Fund
A scholarship to assist worthy students in need of financial aid established by Ralph J. Shapiro, a friend of Seymour B. Goldfeld, Class of 1943, a distinguished lawyer.

Hyman and Bess Goldstein Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by Neil S. Goldstein, Class of 1967, in honor of his parents, Hyman, Class of 1937, and Bess, to assist a student who is experiencing – as the Goldsteins did when they were students – the burdens and benefits of attending law school while married.

Sylvia W. Goldstein Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established as a bequest by Sylvia W. Goldstein, Class of 1944, to a deserving upperclass student in need of financial assistance. Mrs. Goldstein served as the corporate vice president of the musical publishing company Boosey and Hawkes until her retirement in 1993.

Greenfield Eisenberg Stein & Senior Scholarship
A scholarship, established by a distinguished trusts and estates law firm in honor of its alumni members. It is awarded to a worthy student who has demonstrated particular ability in the field of trusts and estates and who is in need of financial aid.

Alexander Gurevitch Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established in memory of Alexander Gurevitch, Class of 1957, to be awarded annually to a Brooklyn Law School upperclass student committed to the profession of accounting and especially international taxation who has a record of outstanding academic performance and leadership in school and community. This scholarship was established by The Foundation of the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants, Inc.

Jeffrey A. Gutin Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by alumnus Irving Gutin, Class of 1954, and his wife, Barbara, in memory of their son, Jeffrey A. Gutin, will provide scholarship support to a deserving student.

Sol and Wilfred J. Halpern Scholarship
A scholarship established by the Wilfred J. and Norma Halpern Foundation, in memory of Sol Halpern, Class of 1954, and in honor of Wilfred J. Halpern, Class of 1968, to be awarded to a worthy evening division student who is attending the Law School in preparation for a career change.

A. Edward Hammerman Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by the estate of A. Edward Hammerman to be awarded by the School to a deserving upperclass student who has demonstrated outstanding performance in the field of estates and trusts.

William Randolph Hearst Scholarship for Minority Students
A scholarship established by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation to assist minority students in need of financial aid.

Victor J. Herwitz Scholarship
A scholarship has been established, through a generous bequest by Harriet H. Herwitz, in memory of her husband, Victor J. Herwitz, Class of 1932, a respected litigator. The scholarship is to be awarded to a student of outstanding ability who is in need of financial assistance.

Henrietta and Stuard Hirschman Foundation Scholarship
The Henrietta and Stuard Hirschman Foundation offers a scholarship to a student of exceptional ability who could not attend Law School without financial assistance.

Philip Hoffer Scholarship
A scholarship awarded by Philip Hoffer, Class of 1933, to an exceptionally able student who is in need of financial assistance.

Rose L. Hoffer Scholarship
A scholarship awarded by the late Rose Hoffer, Class of 1954, to an exceptionally able student who is in need of financial assistance.

Iota Theta Law Fraternity Scholarship in Memory of Daniel Still
The Iota Theta Law Fraternity offers a scholarship in memory of Daniel Still to an exceptionally able student who is in need of financial assistance.

Ronald A. Jacobson Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by the family, friends, classmates and colleagues of Ronald A. Jacobson, Class of 1959, in his beloved memory, to assist a worthy second or third year student.

Lucie S. Jurow Scholarship Fund
A scholarship fund, established by family and former students, in honor of Lucie S. Jurow, Class of 1930, the late Brooklyn Law School Librarian, to benefit a worthy student in need of financial assistance.

Robert A. Kahn Family Law Scholarship Award
A scholarship created by Robert A. Kahn, Class of 1959, to assist a student who has demonstrated exceptional interest and achievement in the study of family law.

Paul Emery Kern Scholarship
A scholarship established by the Paul Emery Kern Foundation in honor of Paul Emery Kern, Class of 1935, to be awarded to a worthy student.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship
The Board of Trustees of Brooklyn Law School offers a scholarship, in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to qualified entering black students.

Murray Klein Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by Thelma S. Klein in loving memory of her husband, Murray Klein, Class of 1929, to be awarded annually to a worthy student.

Lark-Barranco Scholarship
A scholarship named for two of the Law School’s earliest minority graduates who exemplify the rich tradition of diversity that has characterized the Law School for over a century: Sumner H. Lark, Class of 1916, and Augustin P. Barranco, Class of 1904. In 1923, following a lengthy career as the publisher of a local newspaper that focused on African-American issues, Mr. Lark, the son of a former slave, became the first African-American lawyer appointed as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, New York. Mr. Barranco served as assistant counsel for the Republic of Honduras in the Guatemala-Honduras boundary mediation of 1917-1919 and later worked at the law firm of Shearman & Sterling in New York City. This scholarship is awarded to qualified entering minority students.

Charles M. and Anita Lee Scholarship
A scholarship, established by Mrs. Anita Lee, in memory of her beloved husband, Charles M. Lee, Class of 1937. It is awarded annually to a deserving student. Mr. Lee was a respected attorney in private practice, who also held many positions in government, including serving as Counsel to the Bronx Borough President and as the first Director of the Firearms Control Board, and as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Joel M. Leifer Memorial Fellowship
A fellowship has been established by the family and friends of Joel M. Leifer, Class of 1963, as a living memorial to his integrity, morality and respect for his chosen profession and as a tribute to his distinguished career as a securities litigator and arbitration expert. This fellowship is awarded to a worthy student who has achieved excellence in the Securities Arbitration Clinic, the Securities Arbitration Seminar or a related securities course and demonstrates high potential for success in the practice of law.

Abraham M. Lindenbaum Scholarship
A scholarship in memory of Abraham M. Lindenbaum, Class of 1930, awarded to a worthy student who is in need of financial assistance.

Edgardo Lopez Scholarship
A fund established by friends and classmates in memory of Edgardo Lopez, Class of 1977, to assist minority students who have financial need.

Belle and Louis Lubetsky Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by Sheila L. Birnbaum, in memory of two exceptional people, her parents, to assist a deserving student to develop into an attorney of distinction and excellence.

Herbert A. Lyon Memorial Scholarship
A fund has been established by the Estate of Drahomira Dosoudil in memory of Herbert A. Lyon, Class of 1943, to benefit deserving students.

Abraham and Ruth Markhoff Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established in memory of Abraham Markhoff, Class of 1930, a distinguished practitioner, and Ruth Markhoff, by their devoted children to be awarded to a worthy student.

Judge M. Henry Martuscello Scholarship
A scholarship awarded annually in memory of the Honorable M. Henry Martuscello, Class of 1930, Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, Second Department, and member of the Brooklyn Law School Board of Trustees, to the student who, at the end of the first year, demonstrates through superior academic performance, activities and financial need, special potential for leadership in the field of law.

James McClendon, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by the family, friends, and colleagues of James McClendon, Jr., Class of 1958, to be awarded to a worthy and financially deserving minority student.

John J. Meehan Scholarship
A scholarship established by Nancy Munson, Class of 1965, and other colleagues and friends of Professor John J. Meehan to celebrate his 50 years of extraordinary teaching and service to Brooklyn Law School. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has excelled in the course of property law.

Metrick Family Scholarship
Established by Harry, Neil, and Robert Metrick, Brooklyn Law School alumni, to assist a deserving third or fourth year evening student who has family obligations.

Norman and Suzanne Miles Memorial Scholarship
Established by his wife Suzanne Miles, in loving memory of an exceptional man, Norman Miles, whose strong ethics were the foundation of 50 years of law practice, this scholarship will assist a deserving student to achieve his or her academic goals.

Moe Morris Scholarship
A scholarship established under the will of Moe Morris, Class of 1925, awarded to a worthy student in need of financial assistance.

John P. O’Boyle Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by the Estate of Johanna M. O’Boyle in memory of her beloved husband, John P. O’Boyle, Class of 1949, to be awarded to a deserving student in need of financial assistance.

Margaret T. Palomino Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship fund established by friends and colleagues, in memory of the wife of Fabian Palomino, to be awarded to a woman student on the basis of need.

David H. Perlman Scholarship
David H. Perlman, a distinguished graduate of the Law School from the Class of 1964, has established a scholarship fund in appreciation to the Law School. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a worthy student in need of financial assistance.

Vito J. Pitta Labor Law Scholarship
A scholarship established by Vincent F. Pitta, Class of 1978, in memory of his father, Vito J. Pitta, an immigrant who devoted his life’s work to representing New York City hotel workers and advocating for their right to enjoy good and secure wages and benefits and dignity and respect in their workplaces, to assist an upperclass student who has excelled in the area of labor law.

Martha Prince Scholarship
A scholarship established by the late Dean Emeritus Jerome Prince, awarded annually to the woman student who enters her senior year with the highest average at the end of the previous spring semester. The recipient will bear the title, Martha Prince Scholar.

Samuel J. Raiff Scholarship
A scholarship established by the late Samuel J. Raiff, an alumnus of the Class of 1937, to be awarded to a worthy student.

William Payson Richardson Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship awarded under the terms of the will of the late Mrs. William Payson Richardson, widow of the late Dean William Payson Richardson, to a student chosen by the faculty of the Law School.

Geraldo Rivera Scholarship
A scholarship established by television news journalist and talk-show host Geraldo Rivera, a member of the Class of 1969, to provide financial assistance to a student of Hispanic background who shows great promise in the study and practice of law.

Sara Robbins Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established by family, friends, and members of the Brooklyn Law School community in memory of Professor Sara Robbins, who for over 20 years served as Director of the Law Library, to be awarded to a deserving student who emulates her generosity of spirit, commitment to excellence, and dedication to the Law School.

Irving R. Rosenthal Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship created in memory of Irving R. Rosenthal by family and friends, to be awarded to a deserving student.

Louis R. Rosenthal Scholarship
A scholarship established in honor of Louis R. Rosenthal, Class of 1967, a loyal and devoted alumnus of the Law School. It is awarded to a worthy student in need of financial assistance.

Sanders Family Scholarship
Stanley J. Sanders, ’66, his wife, Phyllis, ’84, and daughter, Meryl Sanders Viener, ’92, have established a scholarship in grateful appreciation to Brooklyn Law School. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving student.

Schneider, Kleinick & Weitz Scholarship
A scholarship established by three members of the Class of 1954, Ivan S. Schneider, Arnold L. Kleinick, and Harvey Weitz, which is awarded annually to a student in need of financial assistance.

Phyllis Mehler Seavey and Robert W. Seavey Scholarship
An award established by Phyllis Mehler Seavey and Robert W. Seavey, both of the Class of 1952, to be given to that student who, in the opinion of the Dean and the faculty, in the previous academic year, has evinced a high potential for success in the practice of law, has demonstrated a commitment and ability to achieve academic excellence, and is in need of the funds provided by this award.

Sheila Fireman Seider Scholarship
A scholarship established by Harold Seider in memory of his wife, Sheila Seider, Class of 1959, awarded to a worthy student selected by the Scholarship Committee.

Gerald Shargel Scholarship
A scholarship established by Gerald Shargel, Class of 1969, a distinguished criminal lawyer, to be awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence in the field of criminal law.

Sidney, Milton and Leoma Simon Foundation Scholarship
Through the good offices of our devoted alumnus, Alan L. Wechsler, Class of 1964, the Sidney, Milton and Leoma Simon Foundation has endowed a scholarship to be given to a worthy and deserving student.

Judge Nathan R. Sobel Scholarship
A scholarship established in honor of the late Judge Nathan R. Sobel, Class of 1927, a devoted alumnus of the Law School. It is awarded to a worthy student determined by the Dean and faculty.

Samuel P. and Ellen L. Sporn Scholarship
A scholarship established by Samuel P. Sporn, Class of 1953, to be awarded to a student who has performed in an exemplary manner at the Law School.

Students of Exceptional Promise Scholarship
A scholarship established by an anonymous donor to provide financial assistance to one or more students based on academic achievement and exceptional promise.

Florence and Bert Subin Scholarship
Florence Subin, Class of 1975, and the late Bert Subin, Class of 1955, distinguished graduates of the Law School, have established a scholarship fund in grateful appreciation to Brooklyn Law School. A scholarship is awarded annually to a worthy student who is in need of financial assistance.

Stuart and Anita Subotnick Foundation Scholarship
A fund has been established by the Stuart Subotnick, Class of 1968, and Anita Subotnick Foundation to provide an annual scholarship to a student of the evening division who is providing support for dependent children and who has demonstrated both scholastic merit and need.

The Sol G. Summer Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship created by the family of Sol G. Summer, Class of 1961, to celebrate his life as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and to honor his career as an outstanding and selfless member of the legal community. This award will be given annually to a student of the evening division who has demonstrated outstanding scholastic merit.

Bruce David Swerdloff Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship offered in memory of Bruce David Swerdloff, Class of 1980, whose untimely death curtailed a promising life and legal career. Established by his family, it is awarded annually to an able and worthy entering student in need of financial assistance, as determined by the Dean and faculty.

Judge Doris A. Thompson and Judge Edward Thompson Scholarship
A scholarship established by Judge Doris A. Thompson, a distinguished graduate of the Class of 1938, and her late husband, Judge Edward Thompson, a distinguished graduate of the Class of 1936, to be awarded annually to a deserving woman student.

Joan Offner Touval Memorial Scholarship
The family and friends of Joan Offner Touval, Class of 1953, have established a scholarship in her memory. It is awarded annually to the first year student who, in the opinion of the faculty, submitted the outstanding brief in the Legal Writing Program and has thereby evinced great promise for excellence in the legal profession.

Abraham Traub Scholarship
A scholarship fund was established in memory of Abraham Traub by his friends and family, to be awarded to a worthy student.

Harvey Frederick Wachsman Scholarship
A fund was established by Harvey Frederick Wachsman, Class of 1976, to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students.

Judge Moses M. Weinstein Scholarship Fund
A fund has been established in his honor by the family and friends of the Honorable Moses M. Weinstein, retired Associate Judge of the Appellate Division, Second Department, and member emeritus of the Brooklyn Law School Board of Trustees, to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students.

Kate Welling Fellowship
A fellowship established by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Welling and their family and friends, in memory of their beloved daughter, Kathryn T. Welling, to be awarded to a student who serves as a summer intern at a not-for-profit organization committed to providing legal assistance and/or advocacy for those with disabilities. Ms. Welling’s brother, Thomas, is a member of the Class of 2007.

Sidney D. Young Scholarship
A scholarship established by Sidney D. Young, Class of 1937, a member of the law firm of Lindenbaum & Young, to provide assistance to a deserving entering evening session student.

Steven P. Zinno Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship established in loving memory by the family and friends of Steven Peter Zinno, who was a second-year student in 1997-1998, and whose life held great promise, to be awarded to a deserving student of Italian American descent.

Jan Adam Zuckerman Scholarship
A scholarship established by the family of Jan Adam Zuckerman, in honor of his triumph in completing the work toward his law degree and the Law School’s assistance in his struggle, to be awarded to a physically handicapped student who requires financial assistance.

Bernice Lomazov Zwanger Scholarship
A scholarship established in grateful appreciation to Brooklyn Law School by Bernice Lomazov Zwanger, Class of 1949, and her husband, Jerome Zwanger, M.D., to be awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence and is in need of financial assistance.

Special Funds

Curtis H. Brewer Memorial Fund for Students with Disabilities
This fund, established by his family and friends, honors the memory of Curtis Brewer, a member of the Class of 1974, who graduated from the Law School despite severe disabilities. The income from the fund will be used to provide support services to help meet the needs of disabled students. Priority will be given to those students with severe physical disabilities.

William Brody Memorial Student Loan Fund
This loan fund has been established by a devoted alumnus of the law school, Neil Brody, Class of 1974, in memory of his father, and will be used to provide students with short term loans.

Cardozo-Platzman Loan Fund
A fund has been established by Michael Platzman, Class of 1930, to assist deserving upperclass students in completing their law school education at Brooklyn Law School.

Nathan Dinkes Emergency Student Loan Fund
Short-term emergency loans to deserving students are available from a fund contributed by Dinkes and Morelli, Esqs., given in memory of Nathan Dinkes, Class of 1931, their founding partner, and in honor of Rose L. Hoffer, Class of 1954, and Philip Hoffer, Class of 1933.

Rose and Philip Hoffer Short-Term Student Loan Fund
Rose L. Hoffer and Philip Hoffer have established another loan fund to assist students in need. These loans are short-term and interest-free. In lieu of interest, each loan beneficiary is requested to consider making a contribution to the loan fund when they are financially able.

Alexander and Emily Mehr Memorial Loan Fund
A loan fund established in memory of Alexander and Emily Mehr to provide low interest loans to students.

Samuel J. Raiff Loan Fund
The late Samuel J. Raiff, an alumnus of the Class of 1937, established a loan fund to assist deserving students.
