Sarah E. Light joined the Brooklyn Law School faculty as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law in Fall 2011. Prior to joining the faculty, she served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 2001 to 2011, and as Chief of that Office’s Environmental Protection Unit from 2007 to 2011. In that capacity, she handled and supervised cases under a broad range of civil environmental statutes, including the Superfund statute, the National Environmental Policy Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act. Light received awards from the Environmental Protection Agency and the Environmental and Natural Resources Division of the Department of Justice. She has taught Environmental Law and Policy at the Columbia University Earth Institute, and Legal Writing at Fordham University School of Law. Her research interests focus on the impact of environmental information disclosure regimes on agency decision making in the climate change context, as well as judicial approval of settlements and consent decrees. She holds degrees from Harvard College, Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar, and Yale Law School.
