The star power of BLS and its powerhouse entertainment law graduates won praise in The Hollywood Reporter, which recently ranked the Law School #6 among its Top 12 Entertainment Law Schools for Hollywood. “[Brooklyn Law School’s] Entertainment Law Workshop is among the finest in the nation, plus it’s near the Barclays Center,” wrote The Reporter.
The impressive ranking was a reflection of the high number of BLS graduates included on The Reporter’s coveted Power 100 List, including Michael Elkin ’84, Winston & Strawn (#18), Allen Grubman ’67, Grubman Shire & Meiselas (#36), Charles Ortner ’71, Proskauer Rose LLP (#68), and Martin Singer ’77, Lavely & Singer (#83). All four have been the focus of profiles in BLS LawNotes in recent years.
Allen Grubman ’67 is senior partner of Grubman, Indursky, Shire & Meiselas P.C., the largest entertainment law firm in the United States, with clients including Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Robert DeNiro, and Lebron James.
Charles Ortner ’71 is a Partner in the Litigation Department of Proskauer Rose and the National Legal Counsel to the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Inc. (the GRAMMY Award organization).
Martin Singer ’77 is a founding member of Lavley & Singer in Los Angeles and one of the most sought-after entertainment and business litigators in the country. His client list includes Bruce Willis, Halle Barry, Angelina Jolie, and Charlie Sheen, among others.
Michael Elkin ’84 is managing partner of Winston & Strawn’s New York City office. He is chair of the firm’s copyright, entertainment, and digital media practice, and he has served as lead trial counsel in several disputes involving new technologies.
