    In the four years since President Obama used email campaigns and Facebook to reach young voters and win the 2008 presidential election, politicians from the entire political spectrum have caught up by using numerous forms of social media to connect to their constituents. Speaking with The Christian Science Monitor, Professor Jonathan Askin discussed the next step in political social media for the upcoming election: "The biggest leaps in the social media landscape since the 2008 presidential cycle probably center around harnessing mobile gadgets, location-based services, and data-mining for behavior-targeted marketing."
