Ira Cohen, a partner in the Miami, FL firm of Henkel & Cohen, PA, published an article, "Patents in Paradise, Tropical Trademarks, and Caribbean Copyrights," (The Federal Lawyer, Oct./Nov. 2013). Karen W. McFarlane, a former NYC trial lawyer, appeared in the play, Birds Should Fly Free, at the NY International Fringe Festival in August 2014. The play also had a short run at The Connolly Theatre in New York. McFarlane has appeared in other plays, including Medea, Vera Takes A Seat/Check Please, and in film and television, including Drifting Mind, With Love, Marty, and Vodka 7. (9/9/2014)
Katherine R. O'Brien, Chief Human Resources Officer at New York Life, was appointed to the company's Executive Management Committee. O'Brien joined New York Life in 1995 as a litigator, specializing in employment litigation and benefits compliance, and has held roles of increasing responsibility. Prior to taking on her current role, she served as senior vice president and chief corporate counsel in the Office of the General Counsel where she led all the Office's corporate practice teams. She also served as the company's first chief diversity officer in the Human Resources Department. (9/9/2014)
