Your Debt and the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (CCRAA)
Your options, your career, even your life could be changed by the new federal debt reduction act. The CCRAA allows you to make drastically lowered payments on your educational debt after law school and, for those in any government or public service positions, forgives remaining debt after 120 payments. View who and what debt is covered and when this will become effective. Heather Jarvis, a national expert on the CCRAA, provides you with all the basics. Become an expert on your own situation.
Financially Savvy: Debt Management Tips
This program is for those who want to know how to deal with existing and avoid future consumer debt and protect their credit. If you are or could become behind on your credit card or have other consumer debt, hear Claudia Wilner from Neighborhood Economic Development Advocacy Project (www.nedap.org ) talk about the "life of a debt" and what you need to do to protect yourself.

Post Graduate Fellowships: An Overview 2008
This first of two presentations on Fellowships provided an overview of the types of fellowships, how they work, and what's in it for you. The panelists are Susan Butler Plum from the Skadden Foundation (civil legal projects), former Equal Justice Works Fellow (civil legal projects) and current Echoing Green Fellow (launching a public interest organization) Laurie Parise (BLS '04), Adam Culbreath from the Soros Foundation (criminal justice), and Katie Kendall (BLS '04) current Menapace Fellow (urban planning). Events
Public Service Awards Ceremony, 2008
Public Service Awards are presented to 45 students graduating in June 2008 by Professor Claire Kelly. The awards included 9 Brooklyn Law School & 13 Silver, 17 Gold and 6 Platinum Brooklyn Law School Public Service awards. The faculty awards were presented to Brian Barbour and Josie Beets by Professors Serkin and Kaplan, respectively, and Brian and Josie (in absentia) accepted the awards with brief comments. Camille Chin-Kee-Fatt emceed the event, students having completed public interest summer fellowships and having served as officers in public interest identified student groups were acknowledged, and a short film on the International Criminal Court was screened.
