Litigating an IP Case

The course will first address the substantive law of trademark to give students a grounding in the relevant legal issues. Then the course will take students through the evolution of a trademark litigation in federal court from inception to the eve of settlement or trial. Students will participate in fact development, legal research, litigation strategizing, the formulation of pleadings, discovery, motion practice and efforts at resolution.
Grading and Method of EvaluationLetter grade with pass/fail option. Students graded on written assignments, oral presentations, and in-class simulation. This course will not satisfy the Upperclass Writing Requirement.
