Civil Placements   |   Criminal Practice Placements   |   Judicial Clerkships Placements

Our clinical externship programs allow students to work at field placement offices for lawyers or judges. There are three such programs at Brooklyn Law School: the Civil Practice, the Criminal Practice and the Judicial Clerkship. In each of these programs, the student is assigned to a particular office and works under the direct supervision of one or more lawyers or judges. Although tasks differ in the various offices, the major work load is legal research.

Placements in the Judicial Clerkship and Civil Practice Externship Programs are obtained through the Career Center. Placements in the Criminal Practice Program are obtained by applying to the Clinic Office.

Note: Students enrolling in a 2008 Summer-in-Practice Externship must attend the class for the clinic in order to receive credit. The class schedule is:

Civil Practice: May 22, 2008, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Criminal Practice: May 22, 2008 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Judicial Clerkship: May 20, 2008, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

To read complete information about application procedures and requirements, see the online Clinical Education Guide.
