he year 2001 marked Brooklyn Law School's 100th anniversary. To celebrate this
milestone, we held a year-long celebration of academic programs and social activities. The celebration kicked off in September of 2000 with a spectacular Convocation Ceremony
featuring a keynote speech by Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye, the chief judges of the Eastern and
Southern District of New York, and the chairman of our Board -- all under a tent on the Law
School’s plaza. (Photos of the Convocation Ceremony)
The past year was also filled with exciting symposia and lectures. Among the many thought-provoking programs:
In addition to the events on campus, the Law School held Centennial Receptions for graduates
and friends around the country. The Dean met with alumni in Philadelphia, Chicago, Phoenix,
Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Boca Raton, Miami, and New York.
On May 20, 2001 we held a formal Gala at the Essex House, hosted by Geraldo Rivera, Class of
1969. (Photos of the Gala)
Finally, on October 4, 2001, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the first classes held at
Brooklyn Law School with a party for students, administration, and faculty in the Law School’s
Plaza -- a fantastic conclusion to our first 100 years and a great start for the next 100 years. (Photos of the “First Class” celebration)
